MAJ. Gen. James Kazini was killed by blows on the head, according to the postmortem report.An expert privy to the diagnosis disclosed that the object that hit Kazini fractured his skull.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the medical practitioner said their findings ruled out other causes like strangling or stabbing.
“Our findings seem to tally with the key suspect’s confession that he was hit on the head,†he told Saturday Vision.
A total of 10 doctors, among them Police staff, assessed the body, trying to establish the cause of death.
The report, key in the prosecution’s evidence, was expected to be ready on Friday morning.
However, tests of samples collected from the murder scene in Namuwongo, a Kampala suburb, were still ongoing.
A source at the Government analytical laboratory in Wandegeya was optimistic that results would be ready by the end of next week.
The country on Tuesday morning awoke to the news of Kazini’s death, allegedly at the hands of his lover, Lydia Draru. The 28-year-old woman is in Police custody.
At the Central Police Station in Kampala, where she was driven after her arrest, she confessed to hitting the general in self-defence.
