FUFA General Assembly

WORLD soccer governing body will have a representative at FUFA’s general assembly in Arua next week.

The local soccer body revealed yesterday that FIFA development officer in charge of east and southern Africa Ashford Mamelodi will attend the elective assembly.

FUFA boss Lawrence Mulindwa is set to be endorsed unopposed after emerging as the only candidate nominated for the federation’s top job.

The other presidential contestant Kabale delegate Godfrey Kwizera refused to turn up for the nominations claiming the exercise was flawed.

The Arua assembly will be the federation’s first elective meeting to be held outside Kampala.

Mulindwa, on being elected in Kampala in 2005, promised to rotate the federation’s assemblies. Mbarara, Masaka, Jinja and Mukono hosted consequent annual meetings.

White Castle Hotel will host the 174 delegates recently elected in the federation’s grassroots elections.

All constituencies successfully held their elections save for Zone 13 where Kayunga and Mukono failed to agree on a schools representative.

Three elections held by the districts ended in a tie. Returning officer Patrick Okanya meets the parties this weekend to devise means of ending the deadlock.

All members of the outgoing executive committee were re-elected save for Wakiso’s Justus Mugisha who resigned and Mukono’s Fred Barenzi, who lost.
