THE Moroto district LC5 chairman, Peter Ken Locap, yesterday sat for his final Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) paper in Manafwa High School, Mbale district.

A jovial Locap, who registered last year, emerged out of the Divinity Paper 4 examination donning a white long-sleeved shirt and blue trousers, the uniform for the school.

He was a sight to behold in the school as some candidates laughed, giggled and mingled freely with him after the papers.

Locap had registered for the weekend programme in History, Economics and Divinity (HED) and has been commuting from Moroto to Mbale to attend lessons.

“I chose these subjects because I knew I could at least score two principal passes in them. Nobody pressured me to return to school,” he said.

“I already possessed two diplomas in business administration and a Grade III certificate in primary teaching. So I am merely advancing my career like any other citizen in preparation for any political office in the 2011 general elections. Education has no age limit.”
Locap said he did not experience any problem in contesting for the office in 2006 as he had the diplomas and the teaching certificate.

“I didn’t do the mock examinations in second term. I was caught up in a tight schedule. But I went through the question papers. The students and teachers here have been so friendly and helpful,” Locap said.

I hope to pursue a degree in law or public administration if I score the required points, he added.

Sam Weboya, the deputy head teacher of the school, described Locap as a very co-operative student.

Two of Locap’s children, Jolly Grace Abura and Emmy Lote are also sitting for the UACE examinations in Gayaza High School and St. Mary’s College Kisubi respectively.
