BRITANIA Allied Industries plans to set up processing plants for fruit farmers across the country.

House of Dawda group chairman Hasmukh Dawda on Monday said the sh5b project would boost the farmers’ production to enable the firm get raw materials for juice production.

House of Dawda are the proprietors of Britania and manufacture juices, biscuits and sweets among other items.

“We have talked to the farmers and have trained some on how to grow high quality mangoes. The next step is to set up the processing plants to ease transportation and increase profits for the farmers,” Dawda said.

He explained that they were targeting Soroti, Luweero, Kayunga and Kabale districts, as well as West Nile and northern Uganda.

“The areas produce raw materials like mangoes, passion fruits, pineapples and oranges that we use for juice production,” Dawda said.
