THE Police in Mukono are holding five men suspected of robbing boda-boda cyclists of their motorcycles in Mukono town.

The officer in-charge of the criminal investigations department at Mukono Police Station, Mark Odong, said the suspects, who are all residents of Mukono, were arrested in Kampala while selling off a stolen motorcycle.

A suspicious boda-boda cyclist whom they had contacted to buy the motorcycle tipped off the Police after he was asked to pay sh800,000 for a new motorcycle, estimated to cost about sh2.5m, Odong said.

The suspects confessed that they would hire the cyclists in the late hours of the night to take them to the suburbs, from where they would hit them with iron and rob them.

The Police have recovered three motorcycles rom the suspects.

Odong said one of the motorcycles was found covered in a the suspect’s bed, like a sleeping person. He said that the suspects will be charged with robbery.
