Arua teacher gets vocational award

ONE of the longest serving female teachers in Arua district has received a Vocational Excellence Award from the district Rotaract Club.

ONE of the longest serving female teachers in Arua district has received a Vocational Excellence Award from the district Rotaract Club.
Elizabeth Opia, 82, a teacher at Christ the King Primary School, has taught in various outstanding schools since 1977.
She was handed her accolade during the induction of six new club members at Slumberland Hotel in Arua town on Wednesday.
The club president, Charles Adrapi, said they honoured Opia for her perseverance and outstanding service to the community.
“She has taught in many prominent schools, including Ombaci Primary School, where various top dignitaries from this region studied,†Adrapi said.
Opia hailed her former students for crediting her with the internationally recognised award and promised to continue teaching.
The induction of the new members was presided over by the Arua rotaract representative, Tina Nakibuuka, and witnessed by Sarah Lubega from the Rotary Club of Ggaba. This increased the number of club members to 27.
Richard Edemacu, a club member, urged the others to remain committed to the club norms by being dependable and having integrity.
