DRAUGHT - Bank of Uganda and Kampala Club Ltd have sponsored top ranked Ugandan Frank Zziwa to the World Draught Championships Blitz due in the Germany city of Berlin December 28-30. Zziwa was expected to fly out yesterday for the event that brings together the world best in the game. He travels with Uganda Draught Association vice president Fredrick Kamara.

Swedish club donates gear

TENNIS - The Royal Lawn Tennis club of Stockholm has donated 26 tennis racquets and a bag worth sh7.4m to Uganda Lawn Tennis Association.
The donation was handed over to the association’s chairman John Nagenda by Shamim Mayanja, daughter of former deputy Primier Abu Mayanja at a brief ceremony held at Lugogo tennis center on Wednesday. “This is a great gesture from Shamim and we shall distribute the equipment to our youngsters for use in tennis clinics,” Nagenda said.

Tour Uganda race in offing

CYCLING - Uganda Cycling Association is planning the inaugural Tour Uganda race next year. The event that is expected to be a major item on the cycling calendar, will be organised in conjunction with Youth On the Run International, an organisation that carries out social and economic awareness. The tour, slated for April, is expected to cover all regions of the country starting from Kampala.
