EDITOR—I would like to thank the Banyakigezi for the ongoing Banyakigezi
Convention which, among other activities, aims at promoting the culture and socio-economic development of the people from the Kigezi region.

As a promoter of sustainable tourism, I appreciate the way the Banyakigezi have conserved their culture through their language, energetic dance and
food, mainly the bushera.

I appeal to them through their organisation to invest in tourism. Take advantage of the unique location of your region, Kabale, Rukungiri, Kisoro and Kanungu which form the axis of Uganda’s tourism and have the most beautiful scenery and landscape in Africa. The organisation could supplement the efforts of the many Banyakigezi entrepreneurs who have invested in tourism locally.

If the Banyakigezi in the diaspora considered investing in tourism including development of quality accommodation, resorts, handicraft, and other travel-related facilities and services, Uganda’s tourism would be boosted.
