A MUKONO district sub-county chief has been taken to court by his girlfriend over denying her seven-month-old pregnancy and threatening her with a gun, reports Alex Bukumunhe.

According to a document from Kellen Kenganzi’s lawyers, Umar Kakonge, the Ntenjeru-Kojja chief had cohabited with her for some years.

“On the 12th day of July 2008 you threatened our client by pointing a gun (pistol) at her demanding that she should abort your pregnancy. Yet you very well know that abortion is illegal. You have several times denied the pregnancy, well knowing that it belongs to you,” the document stated.

Kakonge also attempted to throw Kenganzi out of the business they had started. She said he went to the office of the inspector of drugs and deregistered her.

A licensing receipt from Allied Health Professionals signed by Were Edward on June 12, 2008 indicated that Kakonge and Kengazi had jointly opened Safe Way Clinic in Mukono Town.

Kakoge was charged before Mukono Grade II Magistrate Charles Kadiisi.
