IN light of Kajabago ka-Rusoke’s article on December 24, 2008 on religion being subject to logic, I wish to represent in proper context the life and mission of Jesus.

He was the Son of God incarnated in a human body to come and save humankind from impending destruction for our sinful ways.

Why was he sought after by Herod? His birth had been prophesied several years ago by prophets like Samuel and Micah (Micah 5:2). Herod feared that this Messiah would overthrow him because he was unpopular due to his cruelty.

Jesus did not assign Himself the moral duty to correct society. God himself sent Him to show man God’s love and free us from sin.

Jesus’ view of heaven is not as Kajabago portrays it. Jesus speaks of a place of love, joy and peace with no evil. It is clearly out of this world. Furthermore, Jesus did not view the rich as exploiters as alleged. He would not have taught all those parables on working hard like that of the talents. Surely that was not to make his followers poor. He only castigated those who exploited others so as to get wealthy.

He wanted us to be like children because they can believe without depending on human thinking. That is what he called Faith. To trust and depend on God because he does not make mistakes.

It is indeed true that Jesus was from David’s lineage, but that does not mean he had to analyse David’s behaviour. Of what importance would that be to his mission on earth? There is no way David and Amin can be compared. David murdered one person. I do not think we can say the same for Amin. Besides, it is Jesus who is our saviour not David.

Furthermore, the Jews did not struggle to liberate themselves from Egypt as Kajabago alleges. It was God who freed them. (Exodus 3:7-8). Indeed Jesus was from God (Luke 2:46). He was only 12-years-old and could discuss the law with the Pharisees.

Whether Judas was a traitor or not is of no importance. The fact is he betrayed Jesus.

You cannot subject God to logic. It is simply inadequate. Saul and Augustine tried. Saul ended up becoming Paul, the great apostle of Jesus. Augustine ended up as St. Augustine. Kajabago, please do not mislead the public again.
