A total of 30 people were on Sunday night arrested in Kyanamira sub-county and surrounding areas.
The district Police commander, Gasper Obingu Onzi, on Monday said the operation was carried out with the assistance of LC chairpersons and would be extended to all sub-counties in the district.
Onzi said those arrested would be screened and the criminals charged in court.
The officer in charge of Kyanamira sub-county, Besiime Fenehanse, said the arrested were mostly young people suspected to be thieves waylaying people, raping women and abusing drugs.
He called upon residents in the sub-county, to report suspicious people.
District security chairperson Cox Nyakairu urged residents to work with security agencies to eliminate illegal activities in the district.
He cautioned against mob justice and asked residents to assist the Police with investigations.
