THE works ministry through the National Road Network is to maintain feeder roads in Namutumba district, reports Saul Waigolo.

The ministry from July will maintain the 32km Busembatia-Namakoko Road which connects Nsinze, Kibaale and Ivukula sub-counties and the 27km Namalemba –Nawampandhu-Bugobi-Kisiro road.

It will also maintain the bridge in Nsinze that joins Namutumba to Iganga district and the Budhumba Bridge that joins Namutumba to Butaleja district.

The total 70km road network is an addition to the Mazuba-Kaliro road, which was taken over by the central Government last financial year.

Speaking to the departmental heads of Namutumba district, LC5 chairman Michael Saire hailed the Government for lifting the burden of road maintenance from the district, saying the money the district gets is not enough to maintain all the roads.

Saire added that the district would maintain some of the sub-county roads.
