The Uganda Local Governments Association (ULGA) elected a new national executive committee in December last year.

ULGA is the umbrella body for all local governments countrywide. John Wycliffe Karazarwe (Ntungamo) and Richard Andama Ferua (Arua) retained their seats as president and vice-president respectively. Raphael Magezi also retained his seat as the secretary-general.

However, there were changes too. Vincent Ssemakula Ssetuba, who has been the chairperson for Buganda region was replaced with Siraje Kizito Nkugwa, the LC5 chairman of Kiboga district.

Ssemakula was, however, elected head of the ethics and accountability committee. Charles Walibwa (LC5 Manafwa) retained his seat as chairperson for the eastern region. The same applies to Norbert Mao (North) and Michael Mugisa (Western region).

The new executive also includes regional representatives from the sub-counties. William Tukei, the chairman for Kachumbala sub-county was elected to represent the eastern region; Christopher Ojera, the chairman Pabbo sub-county, represents the northern region; while Silver Kabona from Bisheshe sub-county represents the western region. Emmy Ssemugabi, from Luweero sub-county represents the Buganda region.
