PADER-A total of 50 people in the district have been trained by the Uganda Change Agent Association. The members trained were from Aruu central, Aruu north and Agago counties to enable the communities be self-reliant in participatory development.

Mothers get 103 bicycles
LIRA-The British Development Agency has donated 103 bicycles worth sh14.4m to support expectant mothers in the district. The bicycles will be used by volunteer trainers to mobilise the women for antenatal services in 10 sub-counties affected by the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency. Richard Mugisha, the programme officer for Health Promotion and Social Development, a charity organisation implementing the programme, handed over the bicycles to the trainers on Saturday.

Teachers advised
GULU-Teachers have been urged to treat children with special needs in the same way they treat other children. The advice was sounded by the district education officer, Rev Vincent Oceng Ocen. He was closing a three-day training of 60 teachers from Gulu and Amuru districts on special needs at Grete Mini Conference Centre on Friday. “We should not be isolating the children with special needs but give them the opportunity to participate in games and sports because you may be denying one with a talent,” Oceng said.

Man held on defilement
AMURU-The Police are holding a 40-year-old man over allegations of defiling his three daughters aged between six and 10 since last November. Charles Latigo, a resident of Alokolum Goke village, was arrested on Sunday and taken to Anaka Police post. The district Police commander, Justino Ovuru, said Latigo separated with the mother of his children last year and was staying alone with the girls in the same house.
