KENYAN Ali Kimani shot a round one over par 73 to lead the Captain's Prize tournament as Ugandans struggled yesterday, reports Douglas Mazune.

Kimani led compatriot Nelson Rokoine by one shot in the 72-hole event under sweltering humidity on the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Golf Club course.

Rwandan player Jean Baptista, Kenyan Jacob Okello and ageing Tanzanian Salim Mwanyaneza shared third position on 75.

Ugandans Deo Akope and Denis Onyango shared sixth place, three strokes behind the leader of the sh10m event.

Akope warned that the leader-board would change in the last three rounds.

“The scores appear poor but given the conditions of the course all of us in the top 10 have started well. The course is too tough, you can’t tell who has a good chance,” Akope stated.
