SC VILLA is a club undergoing revolution. And the latest, in a series of ground-breaking changes at Villa Park, will be the introduction of the first-ever club seasonal tickets in domestic football.

According to fans coordinator and Dennis Mbidde, the arrangement is anticipated to guarantee the club a minimum of sh500m every season. It is part of the fans’ mobilisation strategy expected to engineer financial success at the club.

“In this modern economy, it is impossible for clubs to survive on gate collection,” Mbidde noted.
“I intend to set up a business class of fans. These will be season card holders from the corporate and business class, where the minimum fee for each will be sh1m.

“This will entitle each card holder the opportunity of coming along with family, friends and relatives for the whole season.”

The arrangement, fully utilized by several European clubs, will start in April.

Mbidde’s belief in the strategy stems from the success it generated under a similar arrangement with the Arsenal fans’ base in Uganda in 2004.

“I went around the whole country and established a very strong Arsenal fans base. It’s the reason why Arsenal fans are the majority among Uganda’s Premiership supporters,” he added.

Mbidde also doubles as G4 Fans chairman, a group that combines Premiership fans of the four big teams: Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Apart from rallying back Villa’s old fans and reviving the club’s old branches, Mbidde’s other strategy will be unearthing fans from schools, tertiary Institutions and universities.
