THE failure by clubs to submit their constitutions, list of executive members and minutes of their elective assemblies, has forced the boxing normalisation committee to postpone this week’s UABF extraordinary assembly.

The normalisation committee chaired by Charles Egou yesterday decided to postpone the constitution review assembly by three weeks to March 14, to give ample time to clubs to fulfil the required conditions.

Egou yesterday said that the requirements from the clubs have turned out to be too many to be achieved in such a short time. The assembly had earlier been set for Saturday.

“We had to create room for them to register as we also make final touches on some of the amendments. There are amendments that we are working on that need extra care as they might be contentious in the future,” said Egou.

Clubs have also been asked to submit a curriculum vitae of their club coach and a list of the number of boxers they have.

“We want the organisation to start with the clubs and that’s why we want them to be organized. If a club doesn’t have any of these, then it doesn’t qualify to be in the assembly.”

The committee also has National Council of Sports member Haruna Mawanda, Jimmy Odong and sports minister Charles Bakkabulindi’s personal assistant Yusuf Mukoka.

They were charged with a mandate on uniting the boxing warring factions.

At least during the last meeting, Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation president, Roger Ddungu and Uganda Amateur Boxing Clubs Association chief Godfrey Nyakana promised to bury the hatchet, and work together.
