EDITOR—I refer to an article by Barbara Among, titled: “Nakawa-Naguru Investor Blasts Inspector General of Government (IGG)” which appeared in The New Vision of February 11.

In the article, it was stated, that: “The company questioned why Mwondha (IGG) had not queried how Warid, Aya Brothers and Kingdom Holdings, belonging to Prince Alwalid bin Talal of Saudi Arabia, were given investment licences and offered land with a 99-year-lease in the city centre” (emphasis is ours).

We, therefore, categorically deny the said statements as being unfounded and baseless.

Warid Telecom Uganda Limited, has at all times since its incorporation and licensing, acquired all the land required for its business purposes in a manner that is legitimate and not hinged on the investment licence as alleged in the said article. Suffice it to mention, we have acquired all our leasehold interests in accordance with the requisite legal requirements and/or procedures.

Warid Telecom is neither owned by nor affiliated to Prince Alwalid Bin Talal of Saudi Arabia as stated in your article.

It is neither associated nor affiliated to Aya Brothers or Kingdom Holdings as implied in the article.
