SCHOOLS have been challenged to focus on providing equitable access to quality education.

“This must be achieved because equitable education is a right which all Ugandans must enjoy,” education and sports minister Namirembe Bitamazire said in Jinja district.

She said the NRM government was committed to providing resources to ensure that equitable education is accessed by all Ugandans.

The minister said over the last 20 years, enrolment in schools had increased with more girls assessing better education.

Bitamazire was recently speaking to teachers, the Parents Teachers Association members and the new board of governors of Jinja Secondary School.

She warned against mixing politics with education.

The 11-member board of governors is chaired by the former Jinja district LC5 chairman, Frederick Ngobi Gume.
