EDITOR—I agree with . John Kavuma that banks should educate their customers on how to use ATM cards. I have personally picked an ATM card from bank officials without being asked whether I know how to use it or not.
Many a time, long queues are created by people who don’t know how to use these cards and the most common problem is that of banking! I would like to salute banks like Centenary which have solved this problem by providing an attendant at ATM machines. But what about other banks?
Besides, these attendants don’t work beyond 5:00pm.
I survived being imprisoned because of helping people who claimed they did not know how to use an ATM! I was the next person to enter when two men who had entered and delayed came out saying they wanted my help because they had failed to withdraw money on the ATM.
They wanted more money than what the machine was giving out until I advised them to withdraw what was available.
They obliged but little did I know that they had stolen the card and the camera was recording whatever was taking place! What happened next after these thugs had left, I leave it to the imagination of the readers and the banking institutions.
Yes, banks must induct customers
