Engineer still on suspension

A senior works ministry official, whose vehicle was photographed parked on a Kampala street where prostitutes operate eight months ago, is still on suspension. The ministry spokesperson, Susan Kataike, said Dennis Adrole, a civil engineer attached to the bridges section, had not resumed work. Adrole was interdicted for embarrassing the ministry.
Journalists boycott UPC

Journalists recently walked out of the Uganda People’s Congress weekly press briefing after party officials failed to keep time. About 25 journalists walked out of the 11:00am function at the party headquarters on Uganda House. Explanations from party officials, led by Patrick Mwondha, the treasurer, failed to convince the journalists to stay. The journalists accussed the officials of constant poor time management.
Bostwana consulate

Dr. Sebastian Okello-Wengi has been appointed Uganda’s first consul in Botswana. Okello-Wengi was installed on Sunday in Gaborone at a ceremony attended by the foreign affairs minister, Sam Kutesa. The minister said the establishment of the consulate will support and complement the work of Uganda’s mission in Pretoria, South Africa.
Summons out for four

The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered four people, including a UPDF officer, Capt. Peter Magara, to appear in court on April 10 to answer charges of stealing electricity and malicious damage to Umeme property. The summons followed a recent application by Kampala Associated Advocates on behalf of the national power utility company.
