UWA, better salaries will save our

EDITOR—My sincere thanks go to the management Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), especially to the executive director. He and his staff have done a lot in conserving our nature. However, there is something in UWA which does not seem to bother anybody!

EDITOR—My sincere thanks go to the management Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), especially to the executive director. He and his staff have done a lot in conserving our nature. However, there is something in UWA which does not seem to bother anybody!

The rangers of UWA are resigning at an unprecedented rate. Many have resigned and others are planning to do so because of very poor pay. These people work day and night but are only paid between sh150,000 and 200,000 per month!

They keep complaining but the management of UWA is not bothered because competition for jobs is too high. Even some senior staff have resigned because the disparity in salary is too big. For the good of our environment and nature, I request UWA board and management to sit down and revise its staff salary. This will save our flora and fauna.
