Settling for business could have been the best thing to happen to businessman and former FDC financier, James Musinguzi Garuga.

Settling for business could have been the best thing to happen to businessman and former FDC financier, James Musinguzi Garuga.

The mogul, whose businesses range from real estates, tea estates to transportation among others, recently constructed this $5m (over sh10b) resort beach in his home district of Kanungu.

The facility, we are told, will accommodate tourists who visit nearby Bwindi Impenetrable and Queen Elizabeth National Park. But that is not all. Seeing that the place is over six hours’ drive from Kampala, Garuga has constructed a 1.8 km airfield adjacent to the resort hotel.

Already, a local airline has taken up the route flying there thrice a week. With the airfield close by, it will take tourists to the tycoon’s facility and the adjacent parks less than an hour by air from Entebbe International Airport.

The resort has 28 bandas, 52 rooms and 20 suites. Meanwhile two presidential suites, a golf course and a swimming pool are still under construction, we are told.

We don’t know how much exactly the airfield has set him aback by but we hear that when the project is completed, $8m (over sh16b) will have been spent.
