ENOCK Kato, a businessman, has been elected the chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Mityana district. Kato was unopposed during the delegates’ conference at Ssaza grounds on Tuesday.

He thanked the delegates for trusting him and promised to support any one who would contest on the NRM ticket.

Kato said he would work hard to ensure unity, modernisation and prosperity in Mityana.

“Elsewhere in the country, people are reaping from the NRM because they support government programmes, but in Buganda we still have a challenge of people who do not work and instead keep on opposing the Government,” he said.

The post of Mityana Movement chairperson fell vacant last year after the former chairperson, Augustine Nshimye, resigned following his appointment as a judge.

District chairman Joseph Musoke has been the acting chairperson but declined to contest.

Kato is the proprietor of Enro Hotel in Mityana and owns Zicoffe Company, a firm that buys and exports coffee.

He also owns a road construction company and several commercial buildings in Mityana and other parts of the country.
