THE bail application for Arua municipality MP, Hussein Akbar Godi, will be heard by the Jinja High Court.

Mukono Chief Magistrate Tom Chemutai on Tuesday said there was an order from the High Court in Kampala to have Godi’s bail application heard in Jinja.

Chamutai said this after Godi, who appeared in court without his lawyer, requested to prepare for his bail.

Chemutai remanded him to Luzira Prison until May 5, when the case will come up for mention.

Godi last month re-applied for bail in the High Court in Kampala but the registrar referred the case to Jinja High Court, saying the case was under the jurisdiction of Jinja.

The first bail application where Godi was denied bail in February, was heard in the Kampala High Court by Justice Patrick Tabaro.

Godi is accused of murdering his wife, Rehema Caesar Nasur, at Lugojja village in Mukono district on December 4, 2008.

After court proceedings, there was an unfriendly exchange of words between the deceased’s relatives and Godi’s relatives within the court premises, but prison warders intervened.
