The Police have arrested seven people in connection with the murder of a man. Jackson Nsubuga was strangled on Saturday night at Nakaseeta village, Ssekanyonyi sub-county.
District Police chief Ben Mubangizi said Nsubuga’s death followed a quarrel with his friends at a bar in his village. He said after he was killed, Nsubuga’s private parts were cut off and dropped near the body. Mubangizi said David Kironde, Bakunda Nalinkino, Evans Twesigye, Robinson Musisi, Edward Nkuliye, Jassy Nakatadde, and Tomugiira Mukandenjiiye would be charged with murder after investigations.

UNICEF gives bikes

The UN children’s agency, UNICEF, has donated seven new motorcycles to African Leadership Institute, a local NGO to accelerate child survival in Karamoja sub-region. The agency’s head in Moroto, Dr. Narinder Sharma said while handing over the keys on Tuesday that the motorcycles were for reaching the communities where the needy children were found. Timothy Koriang, a district official, applauded UNICEF for their continued support to the districts in the Karamoja region.

'Fight other diseases too'

Non-governmental organisations (NGO) have been challenged to lobby for funds for other diseases other than HIV. The director for Epilepsy Support Association, Uganda, Augustine Mugarura, said many of the NGOs have concentrated on lobbying for funds to fight HIV/AIDS without considering diseases like epilepsy.
