District given training centre KABAROLE-The Danish government has handed over the District Agricultural Training and Information Centre (DATIC) to the authorities. The first secretary to the Royal Danish Embassy, Karina Hedemark, said the centre would help young people who cannot access formal tertiary education to acquire skills, to enable them earn a living. Hedemark said the centre had trained 7,800 youth to carry out farming as a business since 2004. She was speaking at the hand-over ceremony of the centre in Busoro sub-county. Hedemark disclosed that Denmark also rehabilitated former District Farm Institutes of Kyembogo, Kamenyamiggo and Tororo. At the same function Danida, a danish agency, handed over equipment to Kyembogo DATIC, which included tractors, vehicles, desks, computers, beds and mattresses.
Christians hold demo MASINDI-Christians on Friday held a peaceful demonstration dubbed ‘kick witchcraft out of Masindi.’ Led by Bishop Stanley Ntagali of Kitara Diocese and Pastor Robert Rwomushana Kibuuka of Masindi Miracle Centre, the Christians called upon the Government to ban witchcraft in order to end human sacrifice. At Booma Grounds where the Christians converged for a crusade and night prayer, Kibuuka said: “We are not fighting with the human beings who practice witchcraft but are fighting the evil spirits operating in them. Let us pray for these people to turn to God and abandon their evil ways.â€
4 arrested over fraud MBARARA-The Police have arrested four men suspected to have given sh1.25m in fake money to waitresses at Vision Empire club. South-western Police spokesperson Polly Namaye identified the suspects as Fred Kato, Vincent Male, Henry Muhumuza and Yasin Majidu. “The owner of the club informed the Police after the money was rejected at the bank. Each sh50,000 note had the same serial number,†she said. Namanye added that Kato was wanted by the Police in Nansana, Kampala over minting fake money.
