PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has urged residents of Ntoroko to vote for the NRM candidate, Dr. Chris Asiimwe, in the coming parliamentary by-elections.

“Do not vote for the opposition politicians. They are just making noise like birds yet they have no achievements to show,” Museveni told a gathering at Karugutu Secondary School playground on Sunday.

Asiimwe is facing Misairi Mukwenda (Democratic Party) and Amon Bazira (Forum for Democratic Change).

The seat fell vacant following the death of the former MP, Francis Mugarra.

“It is not sensible to send to Parliament a person from FDC or DP. When Asiimwe goes there, he will be an addition to the other existing leaders of the NRM from this region,” the President said.
Museveni lashed at the opposition politicians for criticising the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme.

He noted that the Government spends billions of shillings annually on education.

On infrastructure, Museveni said the Fort Portal-Bundibugyo Road would soon be tarmacked.

Museveni said the issue of the Obusinga should not be used to decampaign the NRM in Kasese and Bundibugyo. He advised those who want the Obusinga to agitate for it through their local councils.

“The issue of Obusinga should be done in a formal way through consultations with people and their leaders to avoid misunderstandings. The Government will support you (pro-Obusinga) after resolutions are passed by the local councils,” he said.

The President also addressed similar rallies at Rwebisengo trading centre and Kanara village.
The NRM deputy secretary general Dorothy Hyuha, Bundibugyo Woman MP Alice Alisemera, Bwamba MP Kamanda Bataringaya and Bughendera county MP Joseph Matte attended.
