FOUR families in Bushenyi district were left homeless on Saturday after a heavy hailstorm razed their houses. The incident happened in Bugarama village, Bumbeire sub-county.

Household property, banana and cassava plantations were destroyed by the heavy rain that was characterised with heavy wind.

The most affected homes included that of Jolly Muhanguzi, the sub-county’s women chairperson, Mzee Rwandanguzi, Godfrey Mugizi and Nafutali Mujuni.

By Sunday, the affected families were collecting some of the damaged iron sheets and property from the neighbouring banana plantations.

“I have never seen this. We have nothing left,” Muhanguzi said.

She appealed to the Government through, the Ministry of Relief and Disaster Preparedness, to assist the affected families.

“This disaster has hit us when we are preparing to send our children back to school,” Mugizi lamented.
