A group of 20 Rwandans, who illegally entered Uganda through Kabale district, were deported on Tuesday. The Police in Kabale said the Rwandans, who included 16 adults and four children were said have relatives in Kiboga whom they hoped to join.
They entered through Kafujo in Ruboronga, a border post on the Uganda-Rwanda border and were intercepted by the patrol Police in the area.
The district Police commander, Sammy Odeke, said they were transported back to Rwanda aboard a pick-up through Buhara in Ndorwa East.
He asked all stakeholders at the border to be vigilant on illegal immigrants.
“We can reduce on the number of illegal entrants if all stakeholders co-operate by reporting those that cross to our side illegally,†Odeke said.
The Police said the illegal entrants cross through unofficial border inlets in order to elude security at the official border entry points such as Katuna.
The resident district commissioner, Capt. James Mwesigye, said all illegal immigrants would be deported.
