LYANTONDE-A Burundi-bound GASO bus last week knocked dead two pedestrians and injured 17 passengers at Kalegero Trading Centre, 4km from Lyantonde. The southern Police commander, Andrew Sorowen, identified the deceased as Abdullah Hamid,40, a Tanzanian and Francis Tushabe,25, a resident of Kalegero. The injured passengers were rushed to Lyantonde Hospital.


Youth held over idleness

MUKONO-The Grade One Magistrate, Justine Antukwasa, has remanded 15 youth charged with being idle and disorderly. The youth were arrested on February 22 from Namanve in Goma sub-county, where they were found making unnecessary noise during working hours. The accused admitted the offence and were granted bail but failed to get sureties to stand for them.
