Three people were murdered in Kibaale district in the past week.
A man in Busoiga village hacked his wife to death on Monday.

The cause of the 8:00 am murder is still unknown and the assailant, Moses Byamukama, is on the run.
Byamukama allegedly hacked Karungi, 20, with a machete, inflicting deep cuts on her head, back and hands.

One of her hands was chopped off.

Her body was taken to Christ International Ministries Church in Nyanseke.

According to the post-mortem, Karungi died of excessive bleeding.

Police Chief Ananius Ocen attributed the rise in murder cases in the district to alcohol abuse.

“Most men in Kibaale begin drinking alcohol early in the morning, leaving the women at home to look after their children. When they return home, they pounce on the women and slaughter them like animals,” he said.

He suggested that the local government passes by-laws to check alcoholism and drug abuse.
A second suspected murder took place in Kigaza village. Rosemary Mbabazi’s body was found hanging in her house.

Mbabazi was married to John Nyamutale, a special Police constable attached to Kagadi Police Station. It is suspected that Mbabazi was murdered by thugs in the night while her husband was away on duty. The assailants allegedly burnt her clothes and a blanket in the courtyard.

A third murder took place in Kazooba village in Mugarama sub-county. Kikandya Mbaliisa hit her husband, Boniface Baraba, 45, with a hoe. He died instantly.
Baraba might have been killed in a domestic quarrel.

Mbaliisa allegedly accused her husband of selling the maize harvest and not giving her part of the proceeds.
