A student of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Nakawa was strangled by unknown assailants last week. Phiona Uwase, 21, died on Sunday morning after her attackers used a cloth to kill her at Akamwesi Hostels, one of the students’ hostels in the area. The Jinja Road Police Station chief, Joel Aguma, said the incident occurred between 3:00am and 4:00am. According to the Jinja Road Criminal Investigations Department boss, Frank Muzoora, Uwase’s body was dumped in one of the corridors near the hostels. Uwase was a second-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Computing. No suspects have been arrested yet. Muzoora said the deceased’s relatives believe robbers could have killed her. “They said she had some money and that the murderers could have grabbed the money and killed her to erase evidence,” he explained.
