FOR the bigger part of the 1990s, Shanks Vivi D ruled the local radio airwaves with a catalogue of dancehall hits like Bundu and Kakookolo.

But he relocated to Liverpool, UK, about six years. He has since changed his stage name to Shanks Gumaras. But with the emergence of new blood in the likes of Bobi Wine, many seemed kissed Shanks good bye.

But his young brothers; Shanks Junior, 28, and Shanks Monitor, 19, have made efforts to keep the name alive. They are the only thriving members of the Amashanka Camp, a crew that comprised Shanks Vivi D, Sadras and Zani.

Their dancehall tracks, Lonely, and Nkwagala Nga Sente have helped bring them to the limelight. The tracks will certainly send them to greater heights, if the current radio airplay they are receiving is anything to go by.
