When is it time to get rid of old underwear

IT is a topic many people will not dwell on, especially because ladies tend to hold sentimental attachment to the items in question – at least, a great number do. How long should you have underwear, when is the ideal time to get rid of it? If you are going to get rid of it, how do you do it?

Remember, by underwear, we are talking about not just panties, but bustiers, bras and camisoles and the like.

Which is a funny thing really, because the duration underwear is kept varies depending on how women you ask the question.

One lady working with an advertising firm said: “I can keep them for so long, they become antics. But, when I am in my menstrual cycle and my panties get messed, I throw them away.”

But there are certain simple pointers you can have when it is time to get rid of the old and bring in the new. If you start to put on weight, especially around your hips, then it is definitely time to look into changing your collection. That is pretty obvious because you are not going to find yourself wearing the same size of panties, let alone clothes.

On the other hand, when you are pregnant and breastfeeding, your bust tends to get bigger, so you may not necessarily get rid of your old bras and bustiers. But, be sure to get a few bras that will fit more comfortably. For some people, the bust may not go back to original size, in which case, you will have to get more than just a few.

Goretti said of her experience: “I could not wear any of my bras again. I had to start a whole new collection.”

A widow with two children said when she was going to get married, she got rid of all her fuddy-duddy ordinary, unsexy underwear and bought a whole new collection of lingerie. And this is a good enough reason too.

A tear, no matter how insignificant it is to you, should be reason enough to get rid of it. Nothing is more disappointing than finding out that a sophisticated, elegant woman is wearing underwear that would make the next person cringe. It is no excuse. You may be attached to it, but honey, that piece has to go.

Sometimes, you are just going to be fed up of looking at the same stuff over and over again, so you will overhaul your drawer. That again, is a personal decision and as long as you can afford it, then go ahead and spoil yourself.

So, how do you dispose of it after you have identified what needs to go? Well, like when to get rid of it, there are as many diverse answers.

Some people will throw them in a pit latrine if they have one. A very effective way because no one is going to fish it out for whatever reason.

Others will collect it together and burn it because when you put it in the garbage, someone might still get to it. If you must put it in the garbage, then tie up real tight, so it will be difficult for anyone to untie it.

For bustiers and camisoles, if they are still in fairly good condition, find a genuine organisation that takes old clothes to distribute to the less fortunate than yourself.
