The Best XV at the World Cup

After a fortnight of thrilling action in the IRB World Cup today I pick my best XV. Do let me know who I’ve missed out, which ones I’ve got wrong, and your own nominations.

15. Jason Robinson (Eng): Just edges out Percy Montgomery. He is the only English player to shine in their 36-0 demolition by the springboks.
14. Doug Howlett(NZ) Watch him, he will break the all-time All Black try record and has started with gusto.
13. Stirling Mortlock (Aus): Text book straight running and repeated breaking of defensive lines.
12. Felipe Contempomi (Arg): One of the finest inside centers in the world. Controlled the Pumas midfield when they defeated the fancied Les Blues.
11. Bryan Habana(SA): Bucket loads of pace, I would like to see Asafa Powel try and chase him.
10. Dan Carter(NZ): Tough call but Carter’s tactical astuteness tore Italy to shreds.
9. Fourie Du Preez (SA): He single-handedly masterminded the springboks 36-0 destruction of England.
The line-up is completed with the inclusion of:
8. Vasco Uva(Portugal),
7. Richie McCaw-Captain (NZ), 6. Jerry Collins (NZ), 5. Victor Matfield (SA), 4. Sebastien Chabal (France), 3. C J Van Der Linde (SA), 2. Mario Ledesma(Arg) and 1. Rodrigo Roncero(Arg).
