It is often the case that short men find it hard to get clothes that fit properly. Suits are the worst as there seems to be a standard size in most shops.

It is, therefore, common to see a man wearing a jacket with sleeves that are too long or trousers that obviously need to be shortened.
When it comes to casual wear, there is the temptation to go over the top. I’ve seen some men wearing very flashy clothes which have done nothing but emphasise their height.
Fashion is not about trying to prove a point but rather about flattering your body and creating a winning image. Clothes, if worn creatively, are great at highlighting your best features and camouflaging the not-so-good.
Below are some tips that will help you dress better for your height.
* Avoid extreme colour combinations like teaming a hot pink T-shirt with black jeans. In this case, a white or beige T-shirt would work better for you. You could also try picking colours from the same palette. For instance, blue jeans could be work with either a lighter or darker shade of blue.
* Loose fitting clothes will only make you look wider and shorter as they will ‘swallow’ you up. Opt for clothes that fit you properly.
* Your tops should be waist long as this length will flatter you and add some inches to your height as well. Short tops do not flatter you at all and only emphasise your stature.
* When buying clothes, go for vertical lines as they will make you appear taller and slimmer. Avoid horizontal lines because they have the habit of widening and shortening people.
* Avoid jackets with too many buttons and those that are double breasted. Three buttons or less will suffice.
* Stay away from baggy trousers as they will make you look like a little boy wearing his father’s trousers. Go for those that fit you well.
* When wearing a T-shirt with jeans, try not to tuck in. Allow the top to add some length to your upper body. However, if you are the formal type, it is ok to tuck in. As long as you have confidence, you can carry it off.
* Ditch the attitude and flee the stereotype of short men being unsure of themselves. Who said all men must be tall? Be proud of yourself as your height is only a small part of you. Just make sure that you wear the right clothes and accessories. When you are confident, height and size cease to matter to you and everyone else.
