LOCAL soccer fans will have a chance to witness what their clubs have to offer ahead of the Super soccer league that kicks off on October 20.

This will be on Idd day when Express FC hosts Bunamwaya next week.

Bunamwaya replaced SC Villa.
Villa turned down the invitation to battle for the Idd Cup honours, saying they are busy concentrating on preparations for the new league season.

Record league winners Villa will take on Express in the league opener at Nakivubo stadium on October 20.

“Most clubs turned down the invitation save for Bunamwaya who said that they were ready to play,” FUFA CEO Charles Masembe explained.

* KCC FC will officially unveil new coach Moses Basena at an interactive meeting with fans and players at their training ground at Lugogo today.

KCC official John Mutenda said they will use the occasion to explain to the fans the strategies they have in place to make the club competitive in the semi- professional league.

Basena takes over the coaching job from Jackson Mayanja who declined to renew his contract when it expired recently.

Mayanja, a club star in the 80s and 90s had a series of disagreements with his bosses on how the team should be run.
Mayanja was particularly unhappy about the players’ welfare.

The former coach recently said that players and the technical staff were demanding salary arrears.
“I have been told that everything including salary arrears will be sorted out soon, so I expect a brighter future but I need a good atmosphere to work in,” Basena said.
