NAKASEKE - The presidential offer of sh10m was meant for residents but allegations that Ali Jingo, the Kinyogoga sub-county chief, deposited the money on his personal account, has compelled the Police to investigate him. The President donated the money recently while on an anti-poverty drive in the district. Jingo is accused of depositing the money on his account in Wobulenzi Centenary Bank instead of banking it on the sub-county account in Luweero Stanbic Bank.

More water for Gayaza

WAKISO - More piped water is expected in Gayaza and Kasangati in the next three weeks after the National Water and Sewerage Corporation boosts the main pipeline. Harrison Mutikanga, a water official, said bigger water pipes had been laid on the stretch from Mulago to Mpererwe.

Islamic bank aids school

MASAKA - The Islamic Development Bank has offered $365,000 for the construction of a two-storey block at Ssese Senior Secondary School. Hakim Rugasa, the headmaster, said they would also buy laboratory equipment, furniture and books.
