FORMER world junior middleweight champion Kassim “The Dream” Ouma’s efforts to get a fight in 2007 have finally paid off.

The Florida-based Uganda boxer, who last fought in December 2006 against the then WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, will fight Mexico’s Saul Roman on November 2 at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California.

“After the success of our first show at Morongo featuring Daniel Ponce De Leon, Golden Boy Promotions is very excited to bring another explosive night of world championship caliber boxing to the Inland Empire,” said Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions.

“We are proud to present former world champion Kassim Ouma on this card so he can show the junior middleweight division that he is on the road to another world championship.”

Ouma’s fight to get back into the ring has had opponents run scared of his record; first to chicken out was Ishe “Sugar Shay” Smith, who cancelled a fight after falling out with Golden Boy Promotions.

Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora was to follow next, having his anticipated dual with the Ugandan fighter put off after one of the main card fighters’ suffered a fatal injury.

When it comes to action-packed fights, few fighters do it better than Ouma (25-3-1, 15 KO’s), who holds the Compubox record for the most punches landed in a junior middleweight title fight with 502.

Roman (27-4, 24 KO’s), is a hard-hitting battler, whose last four wins have come by knockout. He will be looking to add a former champion to the list of his victims.
