KITUMBI sub-county has resolved to use self-help community development works in a bid to develop the area. The sub-county chairperson, Emmanuel Nsubuga, said they have started with repair and construction of the poorest roads in the villages, after which they will go into other sectors like health and sanitation.

Nsubuga said as a new sub-county, they have limited funds for the work to be done this financial year. He said: “The recent rains have flooded the roads and farmers cannot carry their produce to the markets.

“We have only sh16m for the road works. This is not even a quarter of the funds we need. So the only alternative is to help ourselves,” he said.

Nsubuga said they have started with the Nfula to Muvumira road, Kyengera to Lubaali and Binikira to Kajunga roads.

He is grateful to the district for giving them a grader and the Kassanda South MP, Haruna Salabaya, for his support.

Kitumbi is one of the four new sub-counties that have been created in Mubende district, from Bukuya sub-county.
