EVER walked into a furniture showroom and seen how the furniture glistens no matter how long it has been on display? You too can bring that shine into your home. All it takes is wood polish.
Wood furniture polish removes dust, stains, smudges and spills from wooden surfaces as well as giving them a new shine. It is easy to use and dries instantly, living your furniture clean and shiny. Simply spray a little polish onto the surface and spread it using a clean soft cloth.
Here is a less cosmetic reason for polishing your furniture. Cissy Kitembo, a sales executive at Nina Interiors, says: “Dust is dangerous to wooden furniture. When it collects on it, it harbours insects which will eventually bore holes into the wood.†For the hard to reach areas like the tiny spaces in the joins, remove the dust by driving a clean cloth with polish through them.
There is a wide variety of wood polish you can pick from. A can of wood furniture polish will go for about sh5,500 from a supermarket. Try Uchumi at Garden City, Quality Supermarket or any supermarket near you that stocks a range of homecare products. “All hard wood polish is universal. It can work for all the types of wood,†says Seema Punjani, general manager of the furniture division at Hwang Sung.
For leather couches, a one kilogram can of leather furniture polish will go for sh100,000 in the furniture shops, but you are unlikely to find it in a supermarket.
Go ahead and make your furniture a gleaming presence, with just a little polish. Polish your furniture daily to for best results.
