I’m not into reggae music but I can tell you one thing about Lucky Dube. We have performers and we have performer’s performers. Lucky Dube was a performer’s performer. He would not only go on stage to please the fans but to please himself as well. What I learnt from him in 2001 during his second visit is that once you step on stage let the music take over and just do your thing. On stage Lucky Dube had this energy that is very hard to find today.

I have decided to call myself Lucky's Friend and this morning I wrote song in his tribute because he was my hero. He is irreplaceable. Serious reggae music and good live shows are gone with him forever.
When he performed at Amahoro Stadium in Rwanda fans stormed his stage, others broke down broke down and cried.

I’m at loss of words. Although there were a few issue to iron out we had agreed that he comes and performs next year on Easter and Easter Monday. His death is a big loss not only to Uganda but the entire African continent. He really loved.

I am very concerned and sad. It is a great loss to South Africa as a country and Africa as a continent. Lucky Dube was a friend to Uganda. He came here
several times. He struggled against apartheid through his music.

I am a very ardent fan of his. I think we should hold a funeral vigil for him here in Uganda like we did for Bob Marley recently at the National Theatre. Personally, I will spend tonight at whatever club dedicates the night to his music.

I am very sad. I loved him. I remember him running around Nakivubo Stadium during his show in 1996.

Man, our homie has left us. It is very sad. I have gone to all his shows. I will really miss him. I love his music.

“It is a tragedy. It is

critical about the apartheid system. He composed songs that were inspirational and encouraged many South Africans.
