Can aspirins prevent pregnancy?

ASPIRINS cannot prevent pregnancy. That is a false story. To prevent pregnancy in cases like these, one can use a drug called the ‘Morning After Pill’.

Is it true that if a woman swallows aspirin immediately after unprotected sex she can never get pregnant? If not true, what can be done after having unprotected sex to avoid pregnancy?
N

Dear N,
ASPIRINS cannot prevent pregnancy. That is a false story. To prevent pregnancy in cases like these, one can use a drug called the ‘Morning After Pill’.

You take the first dose within 72 hours (three days) after sex and a second dose 12 hours later. The first dose should be taken as soon as possible after the sex.

Your doctor can also give you a variation of the usual contraceptive pills as emergency pregnancy prevention. Insertion of a coil within five days of sex may also help.

Emergency prevention of pregnancy may fail. You should have a pregnancy test if you do not get period in the next three weeks.

Family planning is more effective but the emergency prevention is important in cases of rape, incest and burst condoms.
