Uganda Golf Club (UGC) members have reason to improve their game after their monthly event – the mug – got a sh600m three-year sponsorship from MTN.

Uganda Golf Club (UGC) members have reason to improve their game after their monthly event – the mug – got a sh600m three-year sponsorship from MTN.

Over 100 members including scratch players and guests will each month compete in six categories (four for men and two for women) for the accolades.

The sponsorship which starts this Saturday will cater for kit, eats and drinks during each competition day of the month. The monthly events will culminate into the “mug of Months” at the end of each year.

While unveiling the package at Uganda golf club, MTN head of marketing Isaac Nsereko said: ‘‘as the biggest sponsor of sports in Uganda it is only natural that we support this club and the tournament.

“It gives us a great opportunity to stay in touch and express our appreciation to these customers of ours, which is key to serving them better by way of product and customer services.’’

UGC secretary Fred Tumuhirwe, who represented the captain, said the mug was a prestigious event. He was optimistic the deal would enhance the golfers’ skills and performance.

Golfers will compete under the medal format.
