ALL Africa Games 10000m gold medalist Moses Kipsiro has started reaping big from his success. Samsung have handed over an assortment of prizes to the top performers at the All Africa Games in Algiers.

Medal winners got television sets while watches, T-shirts and caps were handed over to all Ugandan sportsmen, that reached the quarterfinals of the games.

Samsung promised to stake more electronic equipment in order to enhance the performance of Ugandan athletes at international level.

“We will continue to support sports locally in Uganda, as we have done with the international Olympic Committee. This helps us to contribute to the people’s well being,” said Samsung electronics managing director K. S. Kim.

Kipsiro said he was inspired by the offers. “I can not promise medals but I promise I will do my best not to let down Uganda,” the gold medalist said.

He is expected to resume training later this month to prepare for the World Cross country, Africa Senior championship and Beijing Olympic Games. UOC president, Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso promised to support the athletes.

Athletes rewarded are Abraham Wogute and Edwin Ekiring (badminton), Godfrey Uzunga (tennis), Paul Mutambuze and Kevin Mafabi (table tennis) and athletes Kipsiro and Boniface Kiprop.

+Beijing Olympics organisers said ticket sales would resume next month but via a lottery, after a booking system meltdown last week forced sales to be suspended.

The second phase sale will take place December 10-30 and will be decided by lottery.
