ALEX Ndugga inspired Police FC to the summit of the Super League with a sensational brace that further ruptured Ediofe at Namboole yesterday. The debutants lost 3-1.
Ndugga’s goal after he came off the bench for Zamayoni Kwikwi a minute to half time eased pressure on coach Sam Timbe’s side that had been struggling to get the better of the visitors offside strategy.
Siraj Sevume had earlier on scored his second successive goal that helped the 2005 Super League champions to a timely lifeline after the referee disallowed Ediofe’s would-be opener by Samson Okuti 13 minutes into the game.
With the clean record in three matches Police, leads the table with nine points while Ediofe has stuck to three after their 3-0 demolition of CRO in a home turf in the season opener.
Express will, meanwhile, today have to maintain their illustrious record in Masindi if they are to negotiate their encounter with Kinyara.
The Masindi ground were the second nastiest place to visit last season after Iganga’s Ssaza ground.
Yet contrary to other sides, the Red Eagles, have converted Masindi into one of their favourite hunting venues.
Coach Leo Adraa’s Kinyara has yet to recover from their back-to-back Kakungulu Cup semi-final and quarter-final exits to the Red Eagles in two seasons.
Express’ domineering presence over the upcountry side has also been prevalent in the league in the last two seasons. Red Eagles beat Kinyara 2-0 in 2006, before their goalless draw last year.
After collecting four points out of a possible six this season, the Kakungulu Cup holders have done well so far to suggest another decent outing in Masindi.
“We have to maintain discipline at the back and stay efficient in attack,†Express coach Polly Ouma pointed.
In the other tie, a must-win game awaits SC Villa and Simba at Namboole. Both sides are desperate for their first season victories.
