HARDWARE Deals has become the first local firm to venture into the production of stainless steel tanks.
The superior grade tanks have previously been imported, Roscoe Nsubuga, the director for strategy and support, said this week.

He disclosed that over $8m (about sh14b) would be injected to assemble the manufacturing line.

“Stainless steel tanks are acclaimed world over because of their health and safety advantage. They are free from rust, fungus and algae, which contribute a heavy percentage to tank water contamination,” Nsubuga said.

The stainless steel tanks, he explained, were popularly used in residences, hospitals, hotels, schools, factories and commercial establishments.

Nsubuga said the tanks have a 50-year lifespan with a 10-year warrant on product defect.

The tanks’ capacities range from 250 litres to 5000 litres but adjustments can be made to suit customers’ needs.

The Nakawa-based factory also produces mat tile roofing sheets, reinforced fish scale nets, expanded metal sheets, diamond nets and chequered plates.

It also makes high tensile bars, square hollow sections, rectangular hollow sections, round hollow sections and C-channels.
