FORMER FUFA treasurer Patrick Isiagi has declared his intention to challenge Lawrence Mulindwa for the federation’s presidency in 2009.

Isiagi is a Kumi delegate to the assembly of the soccer governing body FUFA, and was treasurer in the Denis Obua regime.
He has started hunting for support in north and eastern Uganda and will explain his vision to delegates at Hotel Triangle in Jinja, on Christmas eve.
According to Isiagi, he decided to challenge Mulindwa for the top job in order to unite the football fraternity in Uganda.

“Football is meant to unite people but (Lawrence) Mulindwa has concentrated on promoting hatred,” Isiagi stated, “We also expected proper accountability which he has not demonstrated.”
FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa reacted to Isaigi’s comments by stating that his boss would seek a second four–year term.

“Isiagi’s declaration is timely and he is welcome but he will not measure up to Mulindwa’s standards. The best thing for him to do is to join us like his former boss (Denis Obua),” he said.
