THE first phase of the multimillion dollar J and M Hotel Investment has been opened. The $120m hotel located 15km from Kampala off Entebbe Road at Bwebajja was opened to the public on November 28 to meet the growing demand of the hotel and tourism services, Joseph Behakanira, the proprietor, said.
Behakanira, popularly known as AVEMA, told reporters in Kampala over the weekend that he wanted Ugandans to enjoy world-class services at affordable rates.
He said he wanted to set a new trend in the tourism industry to benefit foreign tourists and locals.
Behakanira said the hotel complex with over 100 employees, has over 1,000 rooms including 150 executive rooms, 40 presidential suites, a health centre, apartments, seven conference halls and shopping malls.
It also provides travel information. “This project is a revolutionary project for the tourism industry in this country. “It has been my dream to see a modern affordable tourism service for our people, Behakanira explained.
He said the hotel also has landing grounds for helicopters and small air craft.
Behakanira added that the nearly-10 acres investment will for the first three months offer free venue for parties, conferences and all related activities. It will also provide free wireless internet and phone services for their clients. Behakainira disclosed that local investors in the sector faced challenges in financing their projects.
